He received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, NTUA in 2000 and the Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Department of Electrical Engineering, NTUA in 1990.
He is currently Professor and Associate Dean at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Technical University of Athens.
He has participated in 33 research projects, including ten as scientific leader. 13 of these 33 research projects are large integrated projects funded by the Framework Programmes 6 and 7 and the Horizon 2020 programme of the European Commission. He has supervised four doctoral theses, nine postgraduate theses and 76 dissertations, all of which have been successfully completed.
He has been and continues to be a reviewer for international journals such as IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, IET Generation, Transmission andDistribution (iet-gtd), and Electric Power Systems Research (EPSR).
He has published 117 papers in international journals, 15 papers in book chapters, and 117 papers in proceedings of international peer-reviewed scientific conferences.
