HEDNO
Dr. Electrical and Computer Engineering
He received his Diploma in Electrical & Computer Engineering in 2005, his Master’s Degree in Energy Production and Management in 2007 and his PhD in 2012, from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). The subject of his PhD concerned the principles of operation, the optimal dimensioning and the dynamic behavior of Hybrid Wind-Pump-Storage Power Plants on non-interconnected islands (NDI).
He now works in the Directorate of Special Network Facilities of HEDNO, with responsibility for the protection and control of VT/MT Substations. He has previously worked in the Directorate of Island Management of HEDNO with the object of development and management of generating stations (conventional and RES) in the MDN, and previously in the then Distribution Directorate of PPC, working with distribution network protection studies, as well as with the implementation of Control Centers Distribution Networks. He has also served as a technical advisor to PPC Renewables SA for the implementation of the Ikaria Hybrid Project and has supported the Energy Regulatory Authority in establishing the institutional framework for Hybrid Renewable Energy Stations in MDN. In addition, it has provided consultancy services to HEDNO for the definition of an optimal strategy for the management and operation of the electrical systems of the MDN, in application of the provisions of the MDN Management Code, as well as for the implementation of the required projects (interconnection projects, KEE, etc.) for the connection and smooth integration of the Ikaria Hybrid Project. Finally, he has been involved in the preparation of techno-economic studies for RES Producers.
His research interests are in the field of renewable energy sources and their integration into electrical systems, as well as in the field of distribution networks and their protection and control. He has published 5 papers in IEEE, IET and Elsevier journals, 7 papers in conference proceedings (ICEM, EWEC, CIRED, CIGRE) and a chapter in the book “Wind Energy Conversion Systems: Technology and Trends, Ed. Springer-Verlag London’. He has been a reviewer for numerous papers submitted to IEEE, IET and Elsevier journals.
He is a registered member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and a member of CIGRE.
